The Operating Engineers Health & Welfare Fund has steadily grown since its inception in 1954.  The Fund provides comprehensive healthcare coverage to Plan participants for medical, hospital and prescription drug expenses, as well as life insurance, vision care and dental benefits.

Some Plan highlights:

• The Trustees established contract provider networks, Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield for California and Nevada Residents, and are always looking to expand the network. 

• The Plan offers a wide variety of choices for healthcare including a traditional fee-for-service plan, the contract provider networks, HMOs (Kaiser Permanente, Health Net and Health Plan of Nevada), and a panel of contract dentists.

• These are some recent enhancements made by the Board of Trustees:

  • The Dental Plan maximum was increased from $5,000 in any two-calendar-year period to $6,000 in any two-calendar-year period.

  • The Plan now covers immunizations for all eligible participants.

  • Retirees who are not covered by Medicare are now eligible for routine physical exam benefits if enrolled in the Health & Welfare Plan.
